Last Thursday, Workplace Flexibility 2010 director Katie Corrigan spoke at a New America Foundation briefing moderated by David Gray on the future of workplace flexibility.  Corrigan contrasted the growing tide of support for flexible work arrangements with the political and psychological barriers to their widespread adoption.

Kathleen Christensen, whose new book was the basis for the event, gave a compelling summary of the need for workplace flexibility.  Christensen explained that transformations in the demographics of the workforce that occurred during the 20th century have necessitated a more flexible workplace.

Mike Aitken of the Society for Human Resource Management characterized workplace flexibility as a smart employment strategy and Heather Boushey of the Center for American Progress discussed the politics of workplace flexibility.
